Cecily Cowburn Anderson
Cecily Cowburn Anderson grew up in a family of educators and artists who encouraged her to tell stories through her art. Even as a young artist she focused on physical spaces and the people who inhabit them as a lens to view the complexities of life, including themes of emerging womanhood and the roles in relationships.
After becoming a mother, painting felt indulgent and the speed of photography allowed her to use her body to create personal poetry. Her latest series, “Domesticated,” presents stolen moments in-between domestic duties.
Cecily has been an art educator for two decades. She lives in Connecticut with her family.
